I am a South African citizen working offshore for a UK based company. I wanted to make a personal loan through Capitec Bank and went through the whole process of supplying them all the documents they needed. After a couple of days I received an SMS from Capitec stating that I have not been successful with the loan application. I decided to contact them as I wanted to know the reason. I was told that the reason for not approving my loan is because the company I work for did not have a land line number in South Africa and that they cannot confirm my employment via telephone. This is their answer after I provided - 3 months bank statements, 5 months' payslips, documents from ABSA which shows the conversion from pounds to SA rand, Employed confirmation letter, Employment contract, contact details of my company with the telephone numbers, fax number, email address and contact person's name for their perusal. I went to check my ITC record, my Score is - 957 - Excellent, I have been staying at the same address in SA for 13 years, our house is paid off, I have 4 vehicles to the value of - R1.5 million, I have one retail account but still I can't get a personal loan!
