BLACKLISTED DUE TO LOAN APPLICATION

Last year April 2012 by bank informed me that according to ITC noted judgements against me for not paying a loan obtained from Capitec Bank. I immediately went to Capitec and was given more information regarding the allegation. The person who opened the loan account did it with a ID, under a different name, but with my ID number - hence me being blacklisted. This person also gave contact details that don't exist.

I was advised to make a sworn affidavit at the police which I did and handed it back to Capitec. I was then assured that the matter would be sorted out and remove my name from ITC.

Last week I applied for vehicle finance at FNB, my bank, and was told that it was declined due to being blacklisted by Capitec. I went back to Capitec and they said they still need to sort the account out as I need to pay the outstading money that was borrowed from them.

How is this possible? How was this given a loan with a ID and how was the proof of employment checked as I never had a Capitec account in my life.
