The way my vehicle was reposessed

When i lost my job, MFC came to take my vehicle, i was told it was going to be put in a safe place until i get another job and would be contacted within 21 days as to what is happening in regards to my finance/got a job or money to pay arrears. i was only contacted after three months to be told that my vehicle that i was still owing R 109 000, was sold on auction for R 40 000. no one came back to me to ask if i was able to continue paying for the vehicle, i now stand at R 68 000 debt for the vehicle i could have gotten back and paid it off.
