Think twice before signing up with Old Mutual, their customer service stinks! I have a retirement annuity scheme with Old Mutual. I recently got married and tried to update my personal details ie surname and its taken longer then a week!

I sent an email through with my enquiry, got a response requesting some personal documentation after emails back and forth I was told that my request cannot be completed in that department and someone will be in contact with me shortly, needless to say I'm still waiting. This is not the first time, had a similar problem about a year ago with the person who signed me up, wanted to change something and she told me she doesn't have the authority to do so I must go to the Pinelands branch and sort it out. We live in a modern world where you can take out insurance over the phone but yet when trying to update details you need to waste petrol and your time by driving to them to "sort ' it out. Looking at other complaints on Hello Peter I can see that this is quite a regular problem. I just want my surname to be updated, how difficult is it? Scary to think someone who can't update a surname is in charge of your retirement fund!
