Been handed to Lawyers

I have been trying to negotiate for my arrears of my account and unfortunately call centre dont even want to listen to customer situation, The worst thing is when you receive an sms from lawyers instructing me to pay even more installment while I have been advising std bank that I am going through difficulties, and I have requesting arrangement. The call centre told me to wait for a letter from post I have been waiting but the next thing I am handed cver, Can you please assist me in this regard as I am willing to pay my accoutn but not through lawyers who are charging such an interest and I dont think its fair, You need at least to tell me you will be handing me over.
