Earning miles with BA if you join

I was prospected by Diners club 12 years ago to join because I will receive BA flight miles. After 5 years I was told I have 11 000 miles and when I ask them how far is a mile - they told me a mile is not a mile - I think 11 000 miles was equal to 150 km... So after at lease 5 times I try to know what is my current stand with my miles - it stay at promises that they will mail or call me. Not ones they come back to me. I did also add my wife as a card holder and they can't find her records at all.
