Vehicle finance payment term extended without noti

My vehicle finance was taken over a 72month period. Two years ago when I got retrenched I had to reduce my payments to half- just for a 6 month period. I asked if this meant my payment term would increase and I was told no- it would not. They will work in the interest. This is the 5th year of my finance- it suppose to end in May 2013. However when I call to find out to confirm this- I am told it will only end in May 2014. I tried numerous times and been put through from person to person- given the restructuring division's number. But to no avail- no one answers, or if they do cannot help me. All I need to know if how my term got extended to a whole year- when I only halved the payment term to 6 months and was told it will not be extended. What is going on with my account? Please can someone assist me. I would really appreciate it.
