Never insure with TIC!

I have never had a good experience with Travel Insurance Company in South Africa. On one occasion, my colleague had to cancel a journey because of the critical illness of her parent she had to attend to and I was helping her with her claim. On the second occasion, I fell pregnant and couldn't undertake a journey to a malaria/high altitude area because it would be dangerous for the baby. On both occasions, I provided thorough documentation from doctors and read the policy statement which clearly says journey cancellation is covered.

Clearly not. These guys refuse to pay out. They gladly take your money to "cover" you, then when you are in the dwang they stonewall you. I would highly recommend avoiding them at all costs!
