Received an updated insurance schedule from Standard Insurance... after recovering from the anxiety brought on by the premium increases, I called to make some changes to my insurance policy.

Having made the changes I asked for the updated premium which I was given.

I then asked the consultant to change the CashBack option to one of the newly advertised options namely - 13TH MONTH FREE. Well what do you know the updated premium increased by another almost R400. Now under CashBack options in the letter, one of the advertised selections that can be made is "13TH MONTH FREE - IF WE SUCCESSFULLY DEBIT YOUR INSURANCE PREMIUM FROM YOUR ACCOUNT FOR 12 CONSECUTIVE MONTHS, YOU WILL ENJOY COVER FOR THE 13TH MONTH ABSOLUTELY FREE! "

I asked the consultant why the increase, she told me she is not sure and that there my be a technical problem as it is a new product but that she will get back to me. She did... and can you believe it the reason for the increase... you might have a claim in the 12 moths preceeding the 13th.

False advertising is what it is. Standard Bank Insurance this is disgusting. If you say something is free, it should be free!!! No alterior motives or hidden charge
