Ripped off to get bank statements

I went into Standard bank Fourways to get bank statements for the last 19 months for a tax related query...

I was shocked to find out that they want to charge me R20 PER PAGE!!! How many pages do I need? How much will that cost me? How is that even a reasonable/ justifiable amount to charge? An additional fee of some sort is understandable, but this is a plain rip off.

Standard Banks response at the branch and later to my phone to their call centre is that "this is what they charge, they cant waive the fees and I don't have to request them if I don't want to pay that much for them" (really isn't solving my problem)

This exercise can end up possibly costing me R2000! Just to get MY bank statements for MY account, which I already pay bank charges on, I see no added value in paying such an excessive additional fee.

At this time it is clearly better to vote with my feet and move to a bank that does not RIP ME OFF for what is rightfully MY INFORMATION in the 1st place.
