Empty promises

About 3 months ago I replied to an ad on Gumtree about this company, The Property Finder, helping you to get a home loan. This guy phoned me and guaranteed that his company will assist me in getting a bond. His "commission" is R3000 and payable upfront, but he will provide me with a letter to confirm that the money will be paid back if the matter is cancelled for whatever reason or if the application is not successful. I did receive a letter confirming this, but to no suprise 3 months later - no bond and no refund. I'm afraid that I was stupid enough to fall for this "".
