I had a student achiever account when I was in tertiary and upgraded to an ordinary cheque account when I had found employment. I later left standard bank due to poor sevice. I migrated to FNB and adviced my workplace's HR to pay FNB. I recently received a call from debt tracker about an amount that was outstanding fromy student achiever account from standard bank. I tried getting info from a branch without much luck. I decided to pay anyway an amount of R1950 and have that account closed and also terminate any relations with this bank. I was highly irritated and confused as to how can this bank upgrade me from a student cheque account to an elite cheque account and omitt to close the former. That didnt make sense to me. I then received another call from the debt tracking company stating that I further owe R3500 on my standard elite cheque that I had requested to be closed when I moved to FNB. I dont know how this happened neither do call centre agents that put me on hold until the cows come home, or their newest strategy, transfering you from one dept to the next until your airtime orppatience runs out. Whichever comes first.
