How long does it take to settle an account?

My loan account was settled on the 3/05/2013, i phoned a week later and it still wasnt done. I phoned back again 3 weeks later and STILL WASN'T DONE. My acc was finally closed on the 22 or 23th/ 05 and yet i was still debited. I understand that the debit order could not be stopped but this would not have been a problem if people had done their job in the first place. Does it really take that long for this department to allocate funds to an account? It doesnt matter how short staffed or how much back log you've got but you have to let your customers know if you have a problem or if the settlement is going to take longer than usual. I now have to wait an additional 3-5 working days for a refund?? (not holding my breath)

Sorry but this is unacceptable!

I would however like to thank Duane Berg, the only person who during this time made sense to me! Keep up the good work and... your friendly attitude is the only thing that kept me calm.
