Student credit card limit R500 but now I'm expected to pay over

In varsity I received a student credit card with a limit of R500. In 2012 budget car hired rented me out a car and the tyre burst. They took R16000 from my credit card for damages, which was their tyre pressure fault. Can the bank explain to me why its taking money from my debit card without my permission when I stated they should reverse this R16000 from my credit card!
