Printed Bank Statements

Business & Finance

Over the past weekend my fiance and I went into an FNB branch, to request printed Bank statement copies that would reflect some history (3-Months) of our Bank Accounts. We needed these documents as proof to assist in our 'Mortgage Application'. 'Financial institutions'; we were told accept nothing less than copies printed and stamped by the Banks, i.e. internet banking (soft-copies) would not suffice. The very friendly and helpful teller then proceeded to tell us that we would be charged at around R9, 65c (R9, 65?!?!?!?!) a page for a statement whose number of pages would be determined by the number of Transactions during the period requested.(Whoa!)

The short and long of it is, I feel this is a charge FNB needs to look at and reconsider. Understandably; it is there to discourage the unnecessary use of paper, however, in this forced instance, FNB needs to exercise some form of leniency towards its customers. Least we forget that it is the Financial institutions that determine this requirement which FNB is one. It therefore is possible that we have payed FNB an amount for printing statements which they have at their disposal to support a Bond Application, they may end up administerin
