What the 'Fine Print' doesn't say

Advertising

I recently purchased a 'deal' on Groupon for an Adobe Photoshop CS6, Adobe Illustrator CS6 and CorelDraw X6 online course.

The actual value of the course was R8400, for which I paid R499.
Thereafter, I received a confirmation email stating that my purchase was successful. So I proceeded to purchase the relevant software needed for the online course.
I even received a voucher from Groupon with the code needed to register for the course.

Upon attempting to register, the course provider's website rejected me as my voucher code had already been redeemed and I was required to type in a security code, which I didn't have.

After emailing Groupon, they responded to say my purchase was in fact unsuccessful due to the deal / offer not being popular and there wasn't enough purchases.

This is the first I heard of this! No where in the fine print did it state that the offer would only be successful based on popularity.

Now Groupon offers to refund me the R499 providing I send them proof of purchase. What about the purchase of the software? What about the value the course would have made to my career?

I am extremely disgruntled by this service.
