Advertising sold out stock

I received an email this morning at 6am advertising a Samsung Tablet marked down from R3399 to R1499 but on the email sent it says sold out! Why send an email advertising the product but saying it's sold out? I phoned just after 8am and was told by a call centre agent that it was an old email and that the server was slow. I didn't buy that and requested that i be taken off there mailing list as he was not helpful at all!
