Late bus = my fault?

I booked a bus ticket with City to City and on the booking confirmation it says that the bus is leaving at 03:40. I arrived at the place of arrival (Jenni's Place, Potchefstroom) at 03:10 because we have to be there 30 minutes before the bus leaves.
So I started to wait. At 03:30 there was still no bus. At 03:40 there was still no bus. So I phoned City to City helpline to hear if I might not be at the wrong bus stop. They said they can't help me because their system is down and will only be on again at 05:00. Now I'm panicking, because I missed my bus because I'm waiting at the wrong location.
At 04:20, I decided to drive back home (10 minutes away from Jenni's Place) to try and book a later bus. I got home and phoned the helpline again at 04:37. The person on the other end said that their system is back on again and that the bus depart from Jenni's Place and it is waiting there at this moment.
I asked this person to tell the bus driver to stall for just 10 minutes, I'm on my way.
When I arrived at Jenni's Place again - the bus had already left 10 minutes earlier.

Point is; the bus was more than one hour late, and unfortunately I missed it and is not refunded.
