South Africans Stay Away from BA and the UK

The UK is the only country in the world where you need a visa to transit through Heathrow. Even if you have an onward flight with BA.

As such BA hides behind this rule conveniently money of consumers. There is never a warning or posting on their website site before you make a booking. Once you go to check in then they will happily offload you and tell you to go ask for a refund, knowing very well that most tickets are non-refundable or carry heavy penalties to cancel. They even train their people with the same response line, knowing that this is going to happen.

If you visit the Heathrow Airport website you will see that there is no customs check at all if you land and depart (to another country) in the same terminal. This makes this DATV visa irrelevant and a complete waste of time and money. However it acts a convenient excuse for BA to take your money and they use it.
