IATA thievery

Upon booking a holiday, I accidentally added a wrong name on the booking. After the e-ticket was issued, I immediately noticed the mistake and contacted the agent to explain the problem. I was told no name changes could be made and I would have to reverse the ticket and get a new one issued. I was just told to change the name on a ticket is going to cost me a further R23000 for the same seat, on the same plane. I am told there is nothing that can be done. Quite frankly I think this is thievery of the highest order and for anyone thinking of flying, make sure you never make a mistake because it will cost you a fortune. It is absolutely disgusting that it should cost so much to change a name on a ticket.
