Cancellations of flight

Hi

I have the misfortune of needing to cancel my Kulula flight booking, and I am cancelling forty days in advance, however I was told that this is a non refundable flight, and that all I could hope to recover was some of the airport taxes, which the call centre agent was not able to tell me how much that would be until it was cancelled.

There was a time when certain penalty fees were incurred depending on how far in advance one cancelled, this I can understand, but not to be able to tell me how much that is until after it was done, this is unacceptable.
Another thing that was mentioned was that on the website it says that it was a non refundable fee when booking, which I cannot recall I do not take screen prints of all the screens you go through on the website, then how is it that nowhere on my confirmation invoice does it state that this is a non refundable flight???

How is this treating the customer fairly? or protecting the consumer?
