Metrorail
Metrorail's Total Lack Of Respect

Traveling & Tourism

On Wednesday 6 November 2013, myself and about three other people were pulled from a first class carriage on Rondebosch station with third class tickets.
The usual punishment I've seen for this is that the person is removed from first class carriage and moved to third. So I was shocked when told that I had to pay R40 before I could continue my journey. Not only is that crazy (it's about two days with of first class traveling), but also because there is no notification that there should be a fine of R40 paid upon such an offense.
To make matters worse those who couldn't or wouldn't pay were locked inside a cell on the station. Surely that kind punishment should be reserved for the criminal justice system to mete out, not a ticket official.
To cap things off when one commuter who was let out of the cell wanted to take photos, a ticket official knocked his phone to the ground and told him to "" her.
This is just the worse of it and much more happened. I am appalled that a national transport company would stoop to such atrociously low means and standards. This is only one of many form of action from me as this is unacceptable and should not be swept under the carpet.
