THE HOLIDAY CLUB & DIKHOLOLO DISASTER

Traveling & Tourism

I had booked with the Holiday Club for my wife & I to spend a week at Dikhololo, a holiday resort 37km North of Brits. What we were not told was that there is a 13km very badly corrugated dirt road to get to the resort. All the units are South facing and South never get any Sun. The lighting in the units is bad during the day as well as at night because the main area and the bedrooms have "power saving" bulbs. It's the middle of winter & the units have no fire places or heaters.

My wife is a 77 year old amputee, I'm 72 years old, & neither of us were going to go for long walks or drives to see any game. We merely wanted to get away from our usual routine. You are admonished not to waste water as it is precious, but the irony of the matter is you have to let the water in the bathroom basin or the kitchen sink run for 10 minutes before it gets hot? After breakfast on 13/07, my wife was trying to do some tapestry but had to stop because her hands were too cold. At 8:30am it was warmer sitting outside than inside. We were not prepared to stay another 6 days under these conditions so we unanimously decided to pack up and come home. Bad experience. We are two hours drive from Dikhololo
