I am a Neotel prepaid customer. A few months ago Neotel sent an SMS to all prepaid customers notifying that calls to India can be made at only 25c/min during off-peak times. Recently, I also saw a brochure in an Alcatel store advertising the same international call rate by Neotel for prepaid customers. This has been applicable since September 2012.

The last two times I called India from my Neotel phone I was charged R1.65/minute instead of 25c/min. This was during off-peak time. Today I called their call centre and the agent who attended my call insisted that there was no special call rate to India during off-peak times. He confirmed that I have been charged R1.65/min to India instead of 25c, as advertised. It was so heavily advertised by Neotel, that I couldn't believe he didn't even know about it.

I find it hard to believe that Neotel has not advised their call centre staff about this international rate to India, as per their own announcement. Here are two links that appear on Neotel's own website, as well as on MyBroadband website:
