I have been a Nashua Mobile client since Nashua merged with Nedtel in 2001 (I have had my same number since 1996). My relationship with them has been acrimonious for the most part. Today, I took delivery of the last straw - in the form of the following sms:

Dear Nashua Mobile Customer: You have been receiving free Blackberry Internet Service (BIS) on your account linked to cell number 082xxx. Please be advised, this offer has come to an end & starting 01/05/2013, you will be billed R59/pm for this service. Should you wish to cancel this service, reply "NO BIS" by 19/04/2013. T&Cs & Normal SMS rates apply..

I am currently in a 24 month contract which ends in October. If Nashua Mobile can just change the terms and conditions of my contract mid stream, so to speak, then I can too, right? Wrong! For me to cancel this contract would cost me R3000 penalty and I may not change the terms in my favour. The ONLY reason I signed the current 24-month contract was for the free BIS. If you take that away, I no longer want the contract!!! Certainly not one that Nashua Mobile can change the terms of mid-contract. How can I be bound and not them?
