I have been struggling for months to close my account with Cell C. I sent a request to close my account on 13/NOV/2012 which was never done.. Then after phoning over 10 times and holding on for 30 mins sometimes the account was finally closed on the 08/JAN/2013.

I put a stop order on the account as I was not suppose to pay for Jan. or Feb. as I requested the closure 2 months previously.

Cell C is updating my ITC reports for late payments at ITC companies, TransUnion and Experian. I am not at fault here; Cell C is to blame not closing my account when I asked to close it. Now I have to spend countless hours to resolve this issue.

Anybody else who has similar complaints regarding communications companies must take this up with ICASA, also if they break the NCA regarding your ITC reports contact the Credit Ombudsman at [Email Removed] and they will assist you to rectifying your account.

I've logged complaints with ICASA and the Credit Ombudsman; as I'm getting nowhere logging complaints directly with Cell C. It's only R298 that I'm fighting over, but for me it's because big companies like Cell C are getting away with taking consumers money all the time!!
