Vodacom Cancels My Contract

Telecommunications

I signed a contract with Vodacom for a 2Gig p/m data package which was delivered to my house on Friday some time in September 2012. That Sunday I managed to "use" 5 Gigs of data in a very short time. I had been struggling to get my software to work the whole weekend and was therefore not able to use the USB modem. I phoned Vodacom and they insisted that I pay the amount. I had asked more than three times that a proper investigation be done, and the evidence be sent to me. One of Vodacom's IT specialists phoned me and he explained that all that data was uploaded onto the web (really? where to? please don't insult my intelligence). I asked, once again, for evidence. Nothing. I then agreed to pay the R 5500 (odd) amount only to be told today that my sim card has been disabled (even though I've been religously paying R 1135 a month) for the past five months to pay for something I didn't (and still cannot) use. I now have to "reactivate" my account and get a new sim card which will cost me in the region of about R 500. And I am being treated as a criminal - why will Vodacom not help me. Where is the evidence that I've asked for? I am thinking of involving the Ombudsman...
