No clarity regarding contract upgrade

I placed an order for an iPhone 5 16gig on 8 Jan 2013 when I was due for an upgrade. I was told that the phones weren't in stock but that I should receive my phone within the month. When I followed up to find out if I would receive the phone before the 15th of February I was simply told that they didn't know when I would receive my phone.
I later received a text message advising me that my contract will expire on 17 March. I contacted the store again to find out what would happen should my upgrade still not come by then. I was phoned back & initially told that I might have to order a different handset if the phone hasn't arrived by then. I got quite angry & told the salesman that this was not acceptable. He then told me that I would be able to renew my current contract on a month-to-month basis. Given his uncertainty, I opted to contact Cell C directly to verify that this latter course of action could be taken given that my current contract (control chat 250) doesn't exist anymore. I was told that I would be responded to in writing within 24 to 48 hours. I emailed them on 19 Feb & I still haven't had a response. Waiting over a month for an upgrade with no proper communication!
