Please stop debitting my mom!

My mother noticed an increased in her billing from MTN and reviewed the itemised amount. She noted that since 31 October 2012 this company has been debitting her for content charges. She has previously complained of this and asked to be removed. This company is adamant that she 'opted in' for the service.

She previously complained on this portal on 31 January 2013 and you debitted her again on 20 February 2013 for R218.42!

Mira, US Cellcom or whatever your trading name is, what you forget is that I have done my research and noted similar complaints on the website [URL Removed] In another case you did not offer a refund to the complainant as it was alleged that she had validly subscribed to the service in response to a promotional SMS. Aha! this process sounds very familiar.

You are therefore in violation of clause 11 of the WASPA Code. Please refund my mother, she is a pensioner and does not need your services. Failing to do so we will report you to the WASPA Secretariat.

I am asking you to do the right thing and refund her monies. Do you truly believe your behaviour is ethical? Why are so many people angry with this process of billing you have adopted?
