The customer is always wrong at Vodacom

Telecommunications

I have had three private Vodacom accounts for the past 7 years that I have paid THOUSANDS of Rands for. In April 2012, after a long battle to get the phones I ordered and unavailable stock and many other service related problems, I finally secured three phones after my previous 2 year contract had run out.
In January 2013 my one Sony Ericson, (I have three as mentioned above) started acting up, getting weirder and weirder and finally just stopped working after a week or 10 days after it had started getting 'sick'
I took the unit to our local Vodacom store in Groblersdal, who sent it away to Nelspruit for repairs. They reported back that it was too severely damaged due to 'moisture damage' to repair and that I forfeited the warranty at the same time due to the fact that it was "moisture damaged"!
As a layman, I have no proof or evidence that it was not due to neglect or abuse that the phone is now damaged beyond repair. The frustration I feel is immense - when the phone started acting up, I reported it to Sony Ericson and they referred me to Vodacom and said it was Vodacom's problem. In the end it seems, it is the customer again who has to pay the price!!
