I've signed for a new contract with Vodacom on the 1st of February. The process of signing up was fairly easy, but it took 2 days to activate the contract so I could make calls, the excuse being is that the system to do so was down on the 1st of Feb.
Whilst the new phone looks great, unfortunately its speaker is so bad that I almost always cannot hear anyone on the other side of the call. Since it has been 5 days (not even working days) I phoned the store and asked if the phone can be replaced. I was informed I have to bring it for an assessment and have to wait for approximately two weeks without having a replacement phone in the meantime.
When I asked if I could cancel the contract I was told I have to pay the balance, despite the fact that as per law, I can do refuse my purchase within 14 days.
I think it was a mistake to take out a contract with Vodacom. No service and clear demonstration of a belief that the customer is always wrong.
