Want to charge me for my upgrade

After 19 years of having my cell phone contract with Vodacom and being told that I have a high account, I am now being charged to do a premature upgrade which has never been a problem before. This time around Vodacom is forcing me to change my contract, and it's going to cost me more each month than I have been paying and then I must also pay for a premature upgrade!
I was told I would be phoned back shortly on the 28th November, 2 hours later I tried the upgrade department and was assured that the team leader would phone me in an hour.
3 hours later I started sending mails to customer care. Eventually got a response saying I would have a final answer today. Thank goodness I didn't hold my breath on that!
I guess I am going to get a pathetic response from the customer care robot and no answer to my trifling query in the end.
I frequently work in the neighboring states in Africa, and my phone and data bills are high, do they care?

Very short sighted Vodacom, my 19 years of loyalty could be put to good marketing use.
