Contract renewed without my permission

I took out a contract in 2011 with Vodacom for two years. I phoned yesterday to check the exact date when the contract will end so I can tell them to not continue making monthly deduction.
To my shock, I was told that the contract has been upgraded and renewed for another two years. I did not agree to anything and I didn't receive a new phone. Now I must jump through hoops to get it sorted. I was told somenone inside the centre could have upgraded it and kept the phone. REALLY?!?! THIS IS THE KIND OF PEOPLE EMPLOYED BY VODACOM??? And how long will this investigation take? It's causing me unnecessary stress.
