Vodacom
Bad attitude and silly "rule"

Telecommunications

Upgraded my son's phone to a BlackBerry 9720 on October 21, 2013 at the Vodacom Shop in Summerstrand Village, Port Elizabeth. Today the charger stops working. No problem with the phone. Just the charger. Take it in to the store. Reception tests and confirms that it is not working. Asks Ms Thashani Ryan what can be done. She tells reception (not me) although she is only 2 metres away that I must fetch the phone and the box and the whole lot must be "sent away". I explain that it is the charger, not the phone that is faulty and that this would cause a major inconvenience. She barely glances at me as she walks past to go and serve another customer looking at chargers for sale. I have been a Vodacom client for 15 years but have never been treated like this. I guess she expects me just to buy another charger which I guess I will be forced to do. But not at her shop. And not from Vodacom. It is this superior inflexible attitude that erodes the reputation of a brand - and a retail outlet.
