Blackberry cursor on the run

I've got my blackberry January last year from Game under two year Vodacom contract. it's still a full year to go and my blackberry smart 9300 is now useless in sending texts messages. The cursor runs up and down and you have to pin it down to write texts. if you're lucky you can spend 30 minutes writing a short message. very frustrating and this is not me only, my friend also has blackberry and not even a year-old.
would be nice to get replacements but i was told by Vodacom i only get fasttrack upgrade if my average spend is R1000 or more. Geez! spend more and you get helped.
