Cell C
New phone not charging

Telecommunications

Repairs department case CLC957185. I have a 4 month old phone that has never charged properly since day 1. My wife got her phone from cell c on the same day which worked. I took the phone to cell C in the garden route mall the next day and they informed me that I cannot get a new phone but they had to send in my phone would take 21 working days. I decided to keep the phone as I could not afford to be without a phone for that period of time and the phone did charge with the charger from my wife's phone (one side only). The phone has now stopped charging completely. I have been advised by your service department that I need to pay R2695.87 for the repair. I refuse to pay this as the phone is pristine condition, and has never been damaged in any way. The phone is in secure cover and also closes the charging port from water dust. I also only use the original iPhone cable; I have never used a 3rd party cable or other device. This is a very common problem with the iPhone 5 but the repairs department seems to suggest that I'm responsible for the repair. I don't believe my consumer rights have been honoured. The complaints department also never replied to the email sent on 06/09/2013
