In order to get access to the internet I purchased a Telkom DSL service end of Jun 13. Commissioning the service was great. To make calls I purchased a three piece handset, all acquired at George Telkom.
Within two months, the handsets gave trouble, poor audio quality, rechargeable batteries went dead. At the time of purchasing the handset no one told me the rechargeable batteries can overcharge.
Telkom branch asked me to present the original package and the receipt of purchase. I told Telkom I do not have the package or receipt. I then went to my bank (Standard Bank George) and obtained a copy of a statement as proof of the purchase which I presented to the Telkom representative (the only male in the store). Again I was told that nothing could be done.
I was then requested to take the faulted receivers and leave the store. I refused and left the receivers as well as my proof of payment at the store. If I have to upgrade to a more expensive handset, I am willing to pay the difference
