I am a high end business contract user and have had the misfortune of choosing Cell C as my supposed supplier for what is now almost two years. I think that I have generally been unlucky in my dealings with the company, but recently had enough - I work from home often and there is almost no reception in my house and complex in general! If i stand at my bedroom window upstairs then I can almost hold a whole conversation before the network drops my call. Dropped calls are the painful norm!
I contacted ICASA to complain about the worsening network, They eventually sent a technician to my house in Somerset West and he said there were no towers nearby hence the lack of reception. His suggestion? Roam on Vodacom while at home. It worked a charm!!! I can actually work from home for the first time and thought this was Christmas... until I got my bill this month. From average R1, 600 a month it has shot up to over R2, 500 owing the added costs of having to use another provider because mine is useless and having to pay them both for the priveledge! I would like to cancel my contract due to breach of service - Cell C is not able to offer what they promised when I initiated this contract!
