I recently moved into a new house and required ADSL. I only sought Telkom to install the line which I would pay them line rental for as I was engaging the services of an independent ISP. I was advised that my complex was on their exchange and told once their technician installed the line I would get a service no. and then I should get in touch with them to change the line over just for ADSL service as I advised them repeatedly over the course of several calls that I did not want a landline telephone service or their ADSL service. At NO point was there any indication of a problem, despite my repeated requests to tell me if there was.
I followed their process to the letter and called them when I got the sms advising me that my service was active & could they transfer it to ADSL. The call centre person said no problem it'd take a couple of days & i'd get another confirmation sms. After 4 days still no response so I called again then it apparently takes 7 workign days but still no problem. 8 days later I call back then apparently theres no room on the exchange & must wait till 21 September but I'll be billed for the line rental anyway. So 2.5months of billing for something I didnt want
