Cell C
Ignoring the consumer act

Telecommunications

I took out a contract for 3G modum in January and started having problems with it within a month. I took it back to the store. I was told to take the sim card out and reboot or have it sent away to be fixed. Knowing how long that would take, and working from home, I opted for rebooting the modum. It worked, for a couple of weeks andit has been faulty fo 6 months. It doesn't work at all now and because of time constraints, today has been the first chance I have had to take the modum in. I know I am within my rights to demand the cotract cancelled and to return the modum, under the consumer act. But both Thabang Shihau at Norwood branch, and Sue Naidoo at head office, think that the Cell C's terms and conditions are above the law of the country. Thabang was fairly calm and helpful but very apt at passing the buck, saying she has no authority to cancel a contract. (funny how she has the authority to begin one) She phoned head office for me, after first telling me I would have to go there. We both spoke to Sue Naidoo who was not interested in the Consumer act and just kept telling me they will not cancel the contract, the modum has to go in for repair.
I want nothing to do with Cell C
