Lose airtime when migrating to prepaid

My contract is due to terminate on the 2 July 2013. Due to my coverage issue which has not been resolved, I have decided to change to prepaid and then port to another network. I called 808 and was told that I need to call on the 3rd July to action it and that I would lose my accumulated airtime as that is the business rule! Basically what they are saying is that customers is part of their business. I have paid for this airtime so I cannot accept that I must forfeit it. Other customers have complained and had their airtime refunded. Extremely dissatisfied customer that doesnt want to spend an extra cent with MTN.
