Handset Blacklisted in error by MTN

Telecommunications

My BlackBerry 8520 which I received on contract from MTN in 2010 was replaced by the MTN Repair Centre at Umhlanga in 2012 after going for repairs. Once the contract had expired I received my new handset and used a CellC simcard in the old handset. It worked fine until recently. After 3 calls to MTN Customer Service (173) and BlackBerry Support (1555). Thankfully I have cellular knowledge and I was almost sure that the handset is blacklisted. I was getting pushed from pillar to post by MTN then managed to get a customer service agent to check the IMEI number on the system and the lady discovered that the handset was indeed blacklisted on 28 Jan 2013.By the way the handset still works on MTN and Vodacom. After explaining myself to the agent and her supervisor so many times that this is an error on MTN side, they insist I must send an Affidavit stating that I want the handset to be unblacklisted and that I do not have proof of purchase. I never requested my handset be blacklisted why do I have to go through this hassle now? MTN should resolve their errors I am not about to run around for MTN mistake.
