Cash for faulty sony xperia & 7 wks wait

I bought a brand new Sony Xperia from the Vodacom4U in Wonderpark 8 weeks ago. 3 days after the purchase the phone bombed out. I took it back, as I was informed that there is a 7 day Out-the-box-failure guarantee... 2 weeks later I went into the store, because me calling them everyday seemed to cause more confusion than anything else - no one knew where my phone was. So I go to collect it, or at least attempt to make an enquiry, andi am told that the handset is in the other Vodacom shop. Half way there, I get a phonecall saying that, sorry they made a mistake, the phone is still at the repairs department. On our way out of the mall, I get another phoncall, the phone is actually ready for collection... 4 days later, phone bombs again. I take it back, and ask for a refund or let me pay extra cash in for a different phone.but they tell me no, its not allowed. They have to send it in again for repairs... that was 4 weeks ago. I still have to contact them, and everytime its a different story. I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!! Surely, as the consumer, no one can dictate to me how i am allowed, or not allowed, to spend my money, especially if I bought a faulty product to start with.
