I had taken up a cellphone contract in 2007 with Altech Autopage and had set up a monthly debit order to pay for the subscriptions. Yesterday on trying to apply for a new cellphone contract, I was informed that the ITC had declined my application due to poor credit. I enquired further to find that I had arrears on my Autopage account which makes no sense to me as a debit on my account had been set up. I then contacted Autopage who informed me that the case had been handed over to VVM Attorneys, I contacted them to hear that I owed an amount of R6500. They were unable to tell me what this amount was for so I called Autpoage back. According to them the account had been in arrears for an amount of R1169 and due to subscriptions not been paid, an early termination fee was added. The problem I have is that the first time I hear of my account being in arrears is years later on applying for a new contract. I have not received e-mails, calls, letters from lawyers, court orders... nothing regarding this. I hereby formerly demand proof that my account was in fact in arrears and proof that there were efforts made to inform me of such. I demand a formal investigation into this matter.
