I cannot afford to cancel my gym contract

I am struggling financially and need to cancel my gym contract as I cannot afford it anymore. I contacted kenilworth virgin active and they told me I must pay 30% of the remaining contract fees! The CPA states that the supplier may charge a reasonable penalty nowhere does it specify such a high penalty! I seriously cannot afford this penalty as I will not be able to buy food going forward. Please can someone help me? I'm desperate!
