Billed for a cancelled Gym contract!

I signed up for a gym membership in March 2013 with a sales consultant for a new improved branch of planet fitness opening in Cape Town CBD September 2013. I thereafter decided against it and made many attempts to cancel my contract before September. Only to be taken in circles even after emailing the head office myself. come September, I have been debited for a cancelled gym contract I have not used or have an intention of doing so!
