After >10 years still phoning wife for payment

More than 10 years ago we moved from Centurion to Phalaborwa. My wife had a month to month debit order with Virgin Active. She notified them that there are no VA gyms in Phalaborwa region. We stopped the DO. For the last 7 years several lawyers have been phoning us to claim payment. We have to explain the situation every time. We are receiving endless sms's. My wife have not been able to rejoin due to "bad debt" recorded at VA. How do we stop the harassment?
