Autorenewal of contract following cancellation

I took out a 3 year family contract from 2009 to 2012, paid upfront in full. I did not request renewal, yet monthly debit orders kept coming off my account. Trying to stop this was a nightmare. ABsA had to go to banking ombudsman to put a stop to these, although I'd written several emails to cancel this contract. Now I'm being sued and threatened by Planet Fitness attornies for outstanding fees for a self-renewed contract never used or agreed to. This is beyond a joke. I'm willing to go to court under CPA.
