I bought an iron at H&H in Raslouw, it did not work, I took it back and had to be refunded

While buying the iron, I bought a Defy AutoDry at the same shop. It stopped functioning properly within a few short weeks. Finally a service agent came to fix it.

A friend wanted to buy a fridge and the store wanted to include the delivery cost in the hire purchase agreement even though he was willing to pay upfront for delivery. The excuse was that the system was set up like that.

I bought a DEFY fridge at the House and Home in Centurion Mall. I collected the fridge and it would not work once connected. When i spoke to the store they told me I would have to bring it back to the shop if i wanted to exchange it. Now, considering i had already spent money collecting it, is it my responsibility to return it AND pay for the exchanged fridge to be delivered? I did not buy a defective fridge, I should not have to pay 3X delivery and collection money just because this store simply refuses to sell me anything that works fine the first time around, with no problems. I think expecting the goods to be in decent working order is a fair customer expectation?
