Silly managing skills

I have spent well over 3000 rands at baby city. I recently bought the avent microwave sterilizer for 350 and on my way out I got an old fashioned Milton steriliser for 89 rands. Between prepping for baby, work and moving I only saw that the 89 rand Milton cold steriliser looked rather dirty so I returned it. And the manager Conrad guy says he can't take it back because its been used. This is insulting because how would I soak in the container and have it dirty? And why would I use it and try to return it? I was returning it because it looked very bad and ubfortunately I only noticed this today while packing despite having bought it on the 23rd.
What's really annoying is the service at the Woodmead baby city is appalling on any given day (with the exception of Audrey who has always provided outstanding service) and for him to say they wouldn't sell it like that would imply that I was lying and it also shows that as a manager (with the female manager who works there) haven't a rats how his operations work and that they aren't as streamlined as he thinks because they sold it as it was.
